Mick Tattoo
by Crash

Mick is by far one of the coolest mother fuckers I've ever met. I guess that's kind of an odd way to start this feature ... but it's the damn truth! I met this guy is Feb. '05, after the Milan Tattoo Convention and within 10 minutes we were joking and cutting up like we'd known each other for years. We spent a couple of hours shootin' the shit and then he took us down to a local pub for "Karaoke From Hell," where you perform with a live band, all punk-rock/metal, packed house, karaoke bonanza. Mick did Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" for the video ... and it was good.

It's my pleasure to present to you folks this feature on Mick "Tattoo", aka "Mick from Zurich." Mick unquestionably has worldwide recognition as one of the very best tattooers around - often cited as one of the tattooing's few "Dragon Masters" for his unique and powerful dragon imagery. What struck me most about Mick wasn't just the incredible art and tattoo work, (and as you can see- his work is incredible), but his whole demeanor. He's fluent in five languages, (which is a handy skill in Switzerland), and writes in four. Just to give you guys an idea of how difficult it was to prepare for this particular article, Mick has more than eleven very large portfolios and the photos you see here are only a portion, (in truth, I only made it through five those portfolios ... and this is just the cream of the crop of those five). Even so, Mick said he still felt he wasn't ready for the final picture decisions ... there's always one more project about to be finished that should be included. I'd like to encourage you to take the opportunity to see Mick if the occasion ever allows- he's a very open, insightful, friendly guy ... in fact- he's one of the nicest tattooers I've ever met. Ask anyone - anyone, they'll tell you the same thing.
