Jason Kundell
Tat-Zaps at A.W.R.
Interview by Crash

Crash: Ok, we'll start with the basics. How old are you?

Jason: 29.

You were getting tattooed pretty regularly before you started tattooing, right?

Yeah. As soon as I turned 18 I started getting tattooed and I had a friend from Venice who had some gangster work, but he also had some really cool shit. He had some work by some people like Eddie Deutsche and Elio Espana. My friend told me to come up here and see if I could get tattooed by Eddie or Marcus or Elio. So I came up here and got tattooed by Elio; He did my first 2 tattoos. Right when I got started I knew I wanted a lot of tattoos.

Were you doing graffiti at the time?

Yeah, I was doing graffiti long before I was tattooing. Probably doing graffiti when I was 13 or 14, so long before tattooing there was that.

How did you start tattooing?

Paco at NewSkool was tattooing a few years before me and I told him I was really interested in learning. We were friends and he was in AWR also [the Graff crew], so I asked him to teach me.
